Counselling and Psychotherapy in Reigate

Many people begin therapy wanting to stop feeling bad, but leave with something deeper: a more compassionate, flexible relationship with themselves and others.

For Men considering counselling

Often men who contact me haven’t spoken to anyone about what’s going on before. You might be used to dealing with things on your own, or unsure what therapy is supposed to be like. You don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly where to start.

I have worked with many men, particularly as they navigate life’s transitions — in work, relationships, fatherhood, retirement or bereavement, to name a few. Talking with another man who has seen these can be helpful.

Many men start counselling wanting to “fix” a problem or stop feeling a certain way. Often, they leave with a stronger, steadier relationship with themselves and the people around them

Welcome

You may have a clear sense of what’s brought you to counselling, or you might just know that something isn’t right and struggle to put it into words.

I’m here to listen without judgement to what feels difficult — or even impossible — to talk about elsewhere, at a pace that works for you. By talking about what’s happening in your life and how it affects you, together we can begin to make sense of it and move towards greater clarity, less overwhelm, and meaningful change.

Sometimes this means focusing on a specific issue over a short period of time. At other times, it can involve looking more deeply at long-standing patterns, relationships, or challenges.

We might explore how past experiences are shaping your current life, how stress shows up in your body, or how the cultural, religious, or social environment you grew up in has influenced you

About Me

My experience includes counselling clients of diverse ages (18-80) and backgrounds within the NHS and community counselling services.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Minster Centre, one of Europe’s leading training institutes for integrative psychotherapy, and am a registered member of the BACP. My integrative approach means I work flexibly and adapt to what will best support you.

People bring many different experiences to therapy, and I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions, stress, conflict, anger, boundary issues, and loss of purpose. I have also worked with neurodivergent clients, including people with ADHD and ASD.

I also facilitate groups where men can share their experiences, build connection, and recognise that they are not alone.

Before training as a therapist, I was a manager in a large organisation. This gave me a first-hand understanding of the pressures many people face at work and in life — the weight of responsibility, how we respond to stress, and the challenges involved in navigating change and personal growth.

“I have facilitated groups with Chris for the last 2 years. Throughout I’ve found he pays close attention to the nuances in what clients say. Furthermore, he is empathetic and very responsive to clients’ feeling state. He is warm and open, and I have enormously enjoyed working with him”.

Chris, Group Facilitator

"I’ve known Chris in a professional capacity for seven years. I value his calm and considered approach to everything he does".

Testimonials

"I have faciliated alongside Chris in a therapeutic group for the last ten years. He brings integrity and very diverse experiences to the therapeutic space. He can always be trusted to create a safe container where people can dare to open up to explore challenging issues in their lives. He has a gift for tenderly observing and exploring frightening affects, often difficult to face for the client. He will do so with empathy and a great capacity to hold these affects, creating a safe psychic space for the client".

Christian, Psychotherapist
